HP Acquires Tabblo -- Aims to make web printing easier

As regular readers and friends know, printing from the Web has been an interest of mine for a long time! In addition to writing columns like June 2006's Observations, entitled "Printing from the Web -- Are we reaching the end point?", I actually worked on some of the very first initiatives inside HP that anticipated the importance of good printing from the Web. So it's with great delight to read this morning of HP's (NYSE HPQ) acquisition of Tabblo, and especially the positioning of the acquisition. From the release:

"HP’s goal is to make printing content from the web the easiest and best experience possible for people – whether they are printing a simple map or a book of their favorite blogs,"said Vyomesh Joshi, executive vice president, Imaging and Printing Group, HP. "By acquiring Tabblo’s technology and making it available to companies that host popular websites, HP will be firmly on the path to becoming the print engine of the web."
